Shorinji Kempo Terminology

Shorinji Kempo is taught using the original Japanese in every branch in the world, meaning that language is no barrier to teaching and training with people from anywhere else in the world.

The easiest way to remember Shorinji Kempo techniques is to understand the characters that make up the technique names. Originally techniques were simply numbered, but this was decided to be too hard, and names were given to techniques. Some are literal (uchi uke zuki 内受突 'inside block punch'), others have a more poetic connection.

A guide to Japanese pronunciation can be found here on Wikibooks.
